x200 Mullein Seeds – verbascum thapsus

$1.00

Mullein is a cold-hardy, heat-hardy, drought-tolerant icon. Commonly known as “lamb’s ears”, Mullein is a large biennial that grows huge soft, fuzzy leaves. In our climate it flowers in its second year, sending up a massive stalk that can reach over 3 feet in height. The stalks are covered in hundreds of tiny yellow flowers that are sweet and aromatic. Bees adore them, alongside herbalists! The flower, leaf, and root of mullein are all medicinally active. The leaves also have another invaluable function around here; backwoods toilet paper!

To establish Mullein, sew the seeds in early fall or early spring and allow them to stratify naturally with light period of cold or freezing temps. If you live in a warm climate without prolonged cold, artificially stratify in a fridge or freezer. Directions for doing so may be found from many sources online.
